Wireframe modeling is the elemental structural format of all 3D objects. It displays the model using lines, curves, connecting edges and vertices. Surface details are limited and rendering engines are not used when displaying the model in Wireframe mode.

The wireframe display requires minimal computational efficiency and is used to design and construct the initial stages of the model. Surface line and edge representation can be controlled using degenerative faceting or the form-building options.

When objects are displayed in Wireframe mode, shown below, all surface lines and interior lines are displayed, but the object is shown without shading.
